injury-plagued United go to the KC Stadium with the task of starting a new winning streak after suffering two defeats from their last three league outings.

Sir Alex Fergsuon's men will be happy for a repeat of last season's win over the Tigers as they bid to retain their Barclays Premier League crown.

Hull have not scored in their last three Barclays Premier League matches, while United are the only Premier League team not to drop any points from leading positions.

Arsene Wenger's Gunners, who have a match in hand on their championship rivals, can put pressure on the leaders with victory at home to Aston Villa.

Villa have four Barclays Premier League victories in a row, and if they win at the Emirates Stadium, they will equal their longest ever run set in 1996 and repeated in 1998. The Villans are the only Barclays Premier League side to have never lost at the Emirates Stadium.

This match sees the division's best front line (Arsenal 44 goals scored) against the meanest defence (Aston Villa 14 goals conceded).

Liverpool v Wolves 17:30

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is set to name an unchanged side for the Boxing Day match against Liverpool at Anfield.

With the exception of Michael Kightly, Dave Edwards and Andy Keogh who all have ankle problems, McCarthy has no other injury worries to contend with.

McCarthy is poised to retain the side that started last weekend's 2-0 win against Burnley - a result which moved Wolves out of the relegation zone and into 12th place.

squads

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Skrtel, Insua, Aurelio, Benayoun, Babel, Gerrard, Lucas, Aquilani, Kuyt, Torres, Kyrgiakos, Ngog, Spearing, Dossena, Cavalieri.

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Hahnemann, Stearman, Craddock, Berra, Ward, Foley, Henry, Milijas, Jarvis, Doyle, Ebanks-Blake, Surman, Mancienne, Zubar, Iwelumo, Hill, Jones, Maierhofer, Castillo, Elokobi, Halford, Friend, Hennessey.

Sunderland will be without suspended central defender Michael Turner for the Boxing Day match with Everton.

The 26-year-old starts a four-match ban after failing in an appeal to have his red card at Manchester City overturned, although skipper Lorik Cana returns from his own suspension.

Manager Steve Bruce hopes to be able to welcome midfielder Bolo Zenden back from a hamstring injury following his return to training, although Steed Malbranque is a doubt with a dead leg.

Keeper Craig Gordon will have a scan on his broken arm next week but remains on the sidelines along with defender Anton Ferdinand (ankle).

Stoke are expected to recall defender Robert Huth for the trip to Manchester City following a one-match suspension which ruled him out of last weekend's defeat at Aston Villa.

Huth's return gives manager Tony Pulis decisions to make at the back, with Danny Collins having returned to the side in the German's absence at Villa Park.

The Potteries club have a doubt, however, over defender Ryan Shawcross, who is struggling with a groin injury.

squads

Manchester City: Given, Taylor, Richards, Zabaleta, Toure, Sylvinho, Garrido, Kompany, De Jong, Ireland, Barry, Robinho, Petrov, Wright-Phillips, Adebayor, Tevez, Santa Cruz, Weiss.

Chris Basham is likely to step in as the only change from the match with the Hammers as the midfielder Gavin McCann again misses out due to an ankle injury.

Manchester City v Sunderland Premier League Watch

Nigel de Jong will miss Manchester City's encounter at Eastlands.

De Jong collected his fifth booking of the season at Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, so his midfield spot is likely to go to Vincent Kompany.

Although the Blues had lost just one Barclays Premier League match all season prior to the White Hart Lane reverse, they are now on a run of one win in 10 and will be desperate for a return to winning ways to ease the pressure on Mark Hughes.

Sunderland team news

Sunderland will be without skipper Lorik Cana for Saturday's Barclays Premier League trip to Manchester City.

The Albania international is suspended after being sent off for two bookable offences during Tuesday night's 2-0 home defeat by Aston Villa.

Manager Steve Bruce will make a late decision on whether to start with Lee Cattermole, who played the final 19 minutes of that match on his return from an eight-week lay-off with a medial ligament injury.

In addition, central defender Michael Turner will undergo a fitness test on the ankle he damaged in midweek.

squads

Manchester City: Given, Taylor, Richards, Zabaleta, Toure, Lescott, Onuoha, Sylvinho, Garrido, Kompany, Ireland, Barry, Robinho, Petrov, Wright-Phillips, Adebayor, Tevez, Santa Cruz, Weiss, Benjani.

Sunderland: Fulop, Carson, Bardsley, Richardson, McCartney, Da Silva, Turner, Nosworthy, Mensah, Cattermole, Reid, Malbranque, Henderson, Campbell, Jones, Bent, Healy, Murphy, Meyler, Reed, Noble.

Arsenal v Hull City EPL Live Streaming

Arsenal midfielder Denilson has recovered from a back injury and is set to come in for the injured Cesc Fabregas against Hull City on Saturday.

Fabregas is likely to be out for eight to 10 days with a minor hamstring strain.

Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), Nicklas Bendtner (groin) and Robin van Persie (ankle) remain sidelined, along with full-back Gael Clichy (back) and Johan Djourou (knee). Armand Traore, however, could return against Aston Villa on 27th December.

Hull City team news

Hull have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League trip to Arsenal.

Manager Phil Brown is missing only midfield talisman Jimmy Bullard and long-term casualty Ian Ashbee, both with knee problems.

Bullard, who damaged a medial ligament at Aston Villa a fortnight ago, is hoping to be back in action by the end of January.

Manager Phil Brown has revealed the recent absence of striker Daniel Cousin - who was thought to be out of favour - has in part been due to a shoulder injury. The Gabon international is now fit and could be in contention.

squads

Arsenal: Almunia, Silvestre, Vermaelen, Gallas, Sagna, Song, Denilson, Diaby, Nasri, Walcott, Arshavin, Fabianski, Vela, Eduardo, Wilshere, Eboue, Ramsey, Senderos.

Hull City: Myhill, McShane, Gardner, Zayatte, Dawson, Garcia, Marney, Boateng, Hunt, Geovanni, Fagan, Mouyokolo, Mendy, Kilbane, Olofinjana, Barmby, Cairney, Ghilas, Cousin, Altidore, Vennegoor of Hesselink, Duke.

Aston Villa v Stoke City EPL Soccer

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has no fresh injury worries ahead of the match.

O'Neill could keep faith with the side which beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium Of Light in midweek.

Central defender James Collins may again have to be content with a place on the bench because of the form of Carlos Cuellar and Richard Dunne. Emile Heskey is likely to be preferred to John Carew after netting his third goal in the last six matches against the Black Cats.

Stoke team news

Stoke defender Robert Huth is suspended for the short trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The former Middlesbrough centre-back was booked in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic and will serve a one-match suspension for accumulating five cautions.

His absence could mean Andy Wilkinson reverts to right-back with Danny Collins coming in on the left.

squads

Aston Villa: Friedel, L Young, Dunne, Cuellar, Warnock, A Young, Milner, Petrov, Downing, Agbonlahor, Heskey, Guzan, Carew, Delph, Reo-Coker, Beye, Collins, Sidwell, Clark, Delfouneso.

Stoke City: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Shawcross, Faye, Collins, Lawrence, Diao, Delap, Etherington, Whitehead, Sidibe, Beattie, Fuller, Tuncay, Whelan, Simonsen, Higginbotham, Cort.

Portsmouth v Liverpool Premier League Live Streaming

Portsmouth defender Younes Kaboul returns from a one-match ban.

But there are doubts over the fitness of goalkeeper David James, who sat out his side's 2-1 loss at Chelsea on Wednesday night with the calf problem which has troubled him for much of the season.

Asmir Begovic stands by to replace him, but striker Frederic Piquionne should be fit despite limping out at Stamford Bridge with cramp.

Liverpool team news

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has been passed fit to face his former club Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Saturday.

The England right-back, who left Pompey to move to Anfield in the summer, has been troubled by a hamstring injury and missed Wednesday's victory over Wigan as a precaution.

Striker Fernando Torres is likely to start having come off the bench to score against the Latics but winger Albert Riera still has a hamstring problem and is not fit.

Forward Ryan Babel returns to the squad after an ankle injury.

squads

Portsmouth: James, Begovic, Mokoena, Kaboul, Mullins, Kanu, Vanden Borre, Piquionne, Ben-Haim, Yebda, Dindane, Brown, Wilson, Hreidarsson, O'Hara, Smith, Boateng, Diop, Finnan.

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City Premier League Dec 16

20:00 Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City
If Wolves can no longer be punished by the league for making 10 changes and fielding a toothless team at Old Trafford, they must surely have fallen foul of the Trades Description Act by continuing to wear a logo depicting a wild animal. Certainly Manchester United will never find a tamer way of catching Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
The stylish way would have been by beating Aston Villa on Saturday, so that this victory would have taken them three points clear, but after the startling events of four days ago – when United were beaten 1-0 by Martin O'Neill's men on their own turf – this was a soporific stroll. While Sir Alex Ferguson will have no grumbles about three easy points, complaints about the Wolves line-up and attitude to the game may be remembered for quite a while longer.
Mick McCarthy sprang a big surprise with his team selection: 10 of them, in fact, as every outfield player from Saturday's notable win at Spurs was rested. In the old days, before anyone had heard of Champions League squads or rotation, teams used to get into trouble for doing that.
Now Wolves can offer the defence that sides at the top of the table regularly make wholesale changes and, presumably argue, that Burnley at home this weekend is a more winnable fixture.
Even so, at least some of the travelling supporters must have thought they were coming to watch the league's most in-form away side and harbouring hopes of an unlikely double, while any neutrals permitting themselves to dream that United might be hit by a Midlands double whammy will have been similarly disappointed.

20:00 Liverpool v Wigan Athletic
Arsène Wenger has accepted that he risked pushing Arsenal towards crisis by dressing down his players at half-time against Liverpool with the ultimate football insult. He told them that they were "not fit to wear the shirt" after their first-half display at Anfield on Sunday, when they might have trailed by more than one goal. They rallied, though, to win 2-1 and will travel with optimism to Burnley tonight, for what Wenger has said is the sort of fixture Premier League champions must win.
"Of course it can always go the other way and you can lose 6‑1," the manager said of the risks associated with a half-time rollicking. "Then it's a crisis; it is like that. We live on a volcano."
Those who know Wenger best have suggested that the only time he has been as angry during a half-time interval was in February 2001 at Manchester United, and trailing 5-1. They would go on to lose the match 6-1. "I lose it in the big games," Wenger said, with a smile.

Birmingham City exploded onto the Barclaycard Premiership stage in 2002. Having suffered play-off heartbreak in the previous three seasons, they won the play-offs under former manager Steve Bruce and seemed determined to make up for lost time.

In their first season, they finished a highly creditable 13th and did the double over arch rivals Aston Villa. Another mid-table finish in 2004/05 was followed by relegation a year later and a mass clear-out in an effort to reduce the wage bill.

But Birmingham bounced straight back up in the 2006/07 season, clinching automatic promotion as Championship runners-up. They became the first senior club in English history to postpone a match because their newly-laid pitch wasn't ready. The Blues have the dubious honour of playing on what was originally the spare pitch for the new Wembley.

After suffering the heartbreak of relegation on the last day on the 2007/08 season, Alex McLeish's side bounced back at the first time of asking, winning promotion back to the Barclays Premier League by finishing the 2008/09 season as Championship runners-up.

olton Wanderers have established themselves as a respected Premier League club since rejoining the top flight in 2001. The Trotters made their Premier League bow in 1995 but were relegated after just one season when they finished bottom.

They returned to football's elite a year later after winning the Division One title, but went down again - this time on goal difference. Sam Allardyce guided Bolton back up in 2001 and the club has gone from strength to strength.

Bolton qualified for the UEFA Cup for the first time in their history in 2005 after finishing sixth. After an eighth-place finish the year after, they came seventh in the 2006/07 season to make the UEFA Cup again.

But Allardyce left the club for Newcastle United at the end of that season and was replaced by his assistant Sammy Lee. A poor start to the 2007/08 season saw Lee relieved of his duties and Gary Megson took over. Megson narrowly steered his side clear o

Victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday saw Wolves record successive top-flight wins for the first time since 1983.

Mick McCarthy's men will hope to extend that run further against United, and spoil Sir Alex Ferguson's 900th match in charge of the Red Devils.

Wolves last won at Old Trafford in 1980, and will not want to find themselves behind at any stage during Tuesday's fixture, as United are the only team in the Barclays Premier League not to have dropped any points from winning positions this season.

Tuesday December 15, 2009

Kick off: 19:45 Day 17 Stadium of Light

The inaugural 1992/93 Premier League season saw Aston Villa miss out on their first title in 12 years when they finished runners-up to Manchester United. Villa got their revenge over the champions by beating them in the League Cup Final the following season.

Chairman Doug Ellis had been unimpressed by Villa's league form and replaced the flamboyant Ron Atkinson with Brian Little in 1993/94. The former Villa player led the club to a 3-0 win over Leeds United in the 1996 League Cup final.

In 2000, Villa reached their first FA Cup final since 1957 but were defeated by Chelsea. Although Villa remained a hard side to beat, the loss of several star names and further managerial changes did little to help consistency.

Matters came to a head in 2006 when manager David O'Leary left in acrimonious circumstances, but Martin O'Neill has been heralded as the man to lead them up the table. He led them to sixth-placed finishes in 2007/08 and 2008/09.

Aston Villa - along with only Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers - have finished in every position in the top flight.

igan found the 2006/07 season more taxing and were pulled into a relegation dogfight. However, they survived on the final day of the campaign after a 2-1 win against relegation rivals Sheffield United. Manager Paul Jewell chose to step down after survival had been guaranteed and was replaced by his assistant Chris Hutchings.

However, after a run of six consecutive defeats, Hutchings was sacked in November 2007. He had lasted just 12 matches. Steve Bruce, who had briefly managed the Latics in 2001, was lured away from Birmingham City to take over and helped the club avoid relegation and finish a respectable 14th.

In March 2009, the club announced the JJB Stadium would be re-named the DW Stadium from 1st August 2009. Bruce guided the Latics to a decent 11th place finish at the end of 2008/09 - their second best finish in the Premier League. In May 2009, Bruce moved on to become manager of Sunderland and he was replaced by former Wigan player Roberto Martinez from Swansea City.

Ramsey is just 18, but is quite ahead for his age because he already plays in the Wales national team and is at a top-level club," said the Arsenal manager.

"He has spirit, and something that is very interesting, he is an efficient player, gets in the box at the right moment and is a penetrating player.

"He is not a guy who goes right across the pitch - Ramsey goes where it hurts, and when he gets there, he is a good finisher."

The average age of Wednesday night's squad is 20 - and that has been raised by the inclusion of 32-year-old defender Mikael Silvestre, while fit-again England forward Theo Walcott and Cameroon midfielder Alex Song, who was suspended for Saturday's Barclays Premier League win over Stoke, also travelled to Athens.

However, it is the inclusion of reserve-team captain Kyle Bartley, set to play at centre-half, as well as 18-year-olds Craig Eastmond, Luke Ayling and Tom Cruise - the left-back who has yet to make an Arsenal first-team appearance of any form, even in the Carling Cup - which will have left Wenger open to criticism.

Wenger is only interested in the London-born defender and not his Hollywood namesake.

"I do not care about headlines - for me, there is only one Tom Cruise, and it is the one who plays for Arsenal Football Club," he said.

Watford vQueens PMartin Woods is handed a spot on the right of midfield after he was instrumental in Doncaster's 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace, while both Chris Burke and James Harper continued their fine form with goalscoring displays for Cardiff and Sheffield United, respectively.

At the back, Arran Lee-Barrett produced a sterling performance as Ipswich kept Bristol City at bay at Ashton Gate, with the keeper showing his worth after Roy Keane was unable to get special dispensation to bring in a replacement.

Danny Simpson provided another enterprising display for Newcastle as the Magpies extended their lead at the top of the division, while loanee Ryan Bertrand helped Reading to a crucial victory over Sheffield Wednesday.ark Rangers

Everton v Tottenham Hotspur Uefa Soccer Live

David Moyes has been without Phil Jagielka and Mikel Arteta during the campaign and head into the weekend 16th in the table, while Spurs recently suffered defeats when Jermain Defoe was suspended and Aaron Lennon was in the treatment room with Luka Modric.

Defoe and Lennon are back now and will spearhead Redknapp's attack at Goodison Park on Sunday as Spurs look to cement their place in the top four, and Redknapp said: "They have had injuries this year, and I think that's been the key. They've lost some key players. Arteta, for me, was their main player, he made them play and is a fantastic footballer who they miss badly."

He added: "But they have got a strong squad, when they're all fit they've got a very powerful squad."

Spurs hope to break into in the top four this season, with Liverpool and rivals Arsenal looking vulnerable. Arsene Wenger has also lost a key player in Robin van Persie.

"Two or three weeks ago everyone was saying how fantastic Arsenal were," Redknapp said. "But Van Persie got injured. That's how important your key players are to you. Nicklas Bendtner is injured and suddenly they've got no focal point."

Another key player for Redknapp is Jonathan Woodgate but Redknapp does not know when his centre-back will return after suffering a groin problem.

Woodgate, 29, suffered with the complaint last season and travelled to Germany for an operation in August but the problem has not gone away despite a recent injection.

The former Real Madrid defender has only completed two games this season, the recent Barclays Premier League wins over Sunderland and Wigan, and is back on the sidelines again.
"He's had the injection but it doesn't seem to have done the trick really," Redknapp said. "I don't know if he can have another operation, he's had so many. I don't know what the next step is really. At the moment, Woodgate is not training

Fulham v Sunderland Live Streaming online

Andy Reid heads for Fulham this weekend knowing Sunderland need to adapt to different styles of play if they are to end their miserable run on the road.

The 27-year-old midfielder has played a key role in the Black Cats' excellent sequence of results at home, which has brought them victories over Arsenal and Liverpool as well as Blackburn, Hull and Wolves.

However, he has also been part of the side which has picked up just four points from a possible 21 on the road, only one of them in their six trips since the opening day of the campaign.

Reid said: "It's about getting a balance. If you knock it long all the time, you will be found out, and if you try to pass it all the time, then you will be found out.

"In the Premier League, you come up against teams that play long ball, you come up against teams that are particularly strong at defending long balls.

"You can't do one or the other the whole time, especially for a team like us. We have to mix it up. We have to get the ball down and play, but also at the right times not be afraid to knock it long."

We came with a game plan to try and match them in the middle of the park. That’s important against Arsenal and to be fair every single one of them has done their jobs.

“We had a shaky ten or fifteen minutes in the first half but overall I’m delighted to beat a team like Arsenal. As everyone’s seen here today we’ve matched them and done very well to get a result.

“I’ve been really pleased with the way we’ve been playing without getting the breaks we needed. But remember, when we won at Manchester United we then went to Birmingham and didn’t show up, so we’ll be banging the drum that we must get something at Wigan next week.”

Bruce was forced into making a few a changes before the game due to Michael Turner and Kenwyne Jones being suspended and most notably Craig Gordon’s injury. The SoL chief was impressed with how they players who came into the squad today fitted into the team.

“Marton Fulop didn’t have a lot to do and people like Bardsley and Da Silva. But it’s wrong to pick out individuals because we needed our whole team playing well to beat Arsenal.

“Darren’s had a tough time over the last week or so but he’s come back well and given us his work ethic and a goal.”

Best of luck to Dunnie at Villa; I was to sorry Villa knocked out of the Europa Cup before Dunne had an opportunity to play in it. City fans by and large were sad to see Dunne go because he is a player we generally liked and because he played a vital role in keeping City in the Premiership during some lean times. Taking Dunne out of the City lineup is like removing a familiar, been-there-for-years chair from your living room. At the same time, few can doubt that this was a good move at this time for all concerned.

Dunne’s old armband is being turned over to Kolo Toure, a fine choice. (Gareth Barry might also have been a plausible option). Toure and early-season star Adebayor get their first crack at their old club Arsenal on Saturday. Arsenal, of course, were brilliant during the first week of the season and could feel both aggrieved and unlucky to have walked away from Old Trafford empty-handed a couple of weeks back.
